Saludo and welcome! I’m Beth Crowdus a.k.a. Maturista. The name of my blog combines the word “Mature” which is to indicate that I’m older and the suffix “ista” to add a Spanish flair. I was born an only child to an Air Force SSGT and Mexican mother. Unfortunately my parents have long ago left this world. To look at me, you’d never guess that I am half Mexican and my husband swears that I must have been switched at birth but we will never really know the truth! But I’m pretty sure that my dad’s Kentucky genes cancelled out my mother’s Mexican genes and WYSIWYG!

Fast forward to the present. I’m truly blessed to have a supportive husband and two great sons. Since my husband and I have just entered the empty nest phase and the big 5-0 is right around the corner, I’ve decided to try my hand at blogging. Blogging about an uncharted territory, the 50+ crowd, and all the joys and frustrations that come with the aging process. Writing has always been a passion but it got lost somewhere in the working world, marriage and raising a family. So in my free time and to occupy my mind so as not to worry about my sons, I will write.

Some random things about me:

I’ve worked in the corporate, military and mom & pop sector of the travel industry.

I have a B.A. in Journalism.

My family has a 10-year-old Boston Terrier named Oreo and he is spoiled rotten.

I lived in Germany for 3 years when my husband was stationed there and loved the experience.

I love to play cards and Bunco.

My favorite television shows growing up included Monty Python & the Flying Circus, The Benny Hill Show, I Love Lucy and The Six Million Dollar Man.

You know you’ll have to tell your secret. It will be hard, but you are going to be 50 in a year or so. Some will be offended, and there maybe none or one that will need to see proof. Denial is just not your suit. With your head held high, you’ll bear your soul. So, put your “big girl panties” on and post it: I am a U of K grad. Psyche :-)
